This is an example of a commissioned piece which is based on a real person who has passed away. The horse and dog were prized possessions of the rider in the early 1970s. The family put together an effort to round up all of the pictures of these three they could find and that allowed me to compose the likeness and scene. When the sculpture was completed, I was fortunate enough to be asked to present the piece to the man's widow. It was a moment I'll never forget.
