Stairway to the Clouds: Big Horn Sheep

There's something addicting about looking for Big Horn Sheep. In fact I've known several hunters who are obsessed with them. Every time I've followed a group of them I rarely got closer than 100 yards, and my legs were burning by the time I would lose sight of them. This piece was designed to show how agile they are and how they seem to just keep climbing up when followed. A sculpting teacher I studied with who has since passed on, saw this piece and said she could never have this sculpture in her house because the feeling of suspense would always bother her, like the sheep was going to fall off the cliff at any moment. To me that was kind of the point.
